Nacho Granny

Nacho Granny
Turns her sweaterinside out
stead a washt
wears a ball cap
gray pony tail
with her town on itso
she will remember.
Legend is...she rode vaulting,
young girl
on a strawberry dapple mare
in Bailey's Circusflipping,
joyous
reaching for
tent peaks
hot summer nights.

Now granny makes nachosjalapeno?
concessionaire
for High School football
cackling to herselflost in memoryoh those tents,
that horsehotsummernights.

That is simply a marvelous poem. I can see her. Smell the sawdust from a lifetime ago.

I swear I have seen this very woman in Santa Fe. ;-)

I like Billy, had lost the link to your blog... glad he found it and reminded me it! LOVE this poem, and so many more you've written.
